Sublimation labels

The highest print quality and precision for your brand

Sublimation labels are an excellent choice for brands looking for full-colour, expressive labels that stand out for their durability, aesthetics and comfort of use. Thanks to sublimation technology, the prints are not only resistant to repeated washing – even at temperatures of up to 90°C – but also completely imperceptible, ensuring comfort even when the label is in direct contact with the skin.

Dimensions of sublimation printed labels

Sublimation labels are printed on tapes with widths ranging from 10 mm to 70 mm, which allows the label size to be adapted to a variety of products – from small labels on accessories to larger markings on textiles. The minimum label length is 30 mm, which allows for compact designs, while the maximum length is 400 mm, which opens up design possibilities for large graphics and information. This length is ideal for larger products such as mattresses or furniture, where the label must be clearly visible.

Minimum orders and lead times

For sublimation labels, we offer the option of ordering smaller batches – the minimum order is 3 metres of fabric, which corresponds to approximately 50 labels with a standard length of 60 mm. Thanks to this flexibility, we can tailor our offer to both larger manufacturers and small clothing brands.

Full colour printing and smooth tonal transitions

Sublimation technology allows for printing full-colour labels with smooth tonal transitions, which means that colours can gradually change their intensity, creating a subtle gradient effect. This solution is ideal for complex graphics, logos and designs that require realistic and vivid colours. Sublimation allows printing in the full CMYK colour palette, but colours outside this palette, such as gold or silver, cannot be obtained.

Available materials for sublimation labels

At HUUFT, we offer sublimation printed labels on four different substrates, allowing you to achieve unique effects and tailor the label to specific aesthetic and functional requirements:

  • GURTCotton tape (90% cotton, 10% polyester) with a natural, matte texture, giving the labels an eco-friendly, pleasant appearance. The addition of polyester increases resistance to washing, and the edges are additionally reinforced, eliminating the problem of fraying.
  • Satin: A shiny and elegant surface, ideal for labels that need to look prestigious and luxurious. Satin allows for clear graphic details, and thanks to the possibility of printing on the matt „left” side of the material, it also offers a unique matt effect.
  • Ryps: A fabric with a distinctive ribbed texture that emphasises minimalist and elegant designs. Rep works well with simple patterns and gives labels an original look.
  • Fat man: A thicker, durable substrate resembling an advertising lanyard. It is exceptionally resistant to abrasion, making it suitable for products requiring greater durability, such as toys, lanyards, and outdoor clothing.

Edge protection and user comfort

Each sublimation label from HUUFT is supplied in the form of cut sections, and its edges are protected against fraying thanks to hot cutting. This prevents the material from fraying, and the edges of the label are smooth and aesthetic, which increases its durability and comfort of wear.

The Process of Creating Sublimation Printed Labels

  1. Design and Visualisation – We begin each project with consultation and visualisation of the label to ensure that it meets the customer's expectations and is consistent with the brand's visual identity.
  2. Material Selection – Once the design has been approved, we advise on the best substrate to ensure that the labels are durable and aesthetically pleasing.
  3. Sublimation – The dye application process takes place at a high temperature, which allows for an imperceptible print that blends perfectly with the fabric fibres.
  4. Quality Control – Each batch of labels is thoroughly checked for design compliance and print durability.

Ideal applications for sublimation labels

Sublimation labels work best for flat-sewn labels with distinctive logos or graphics that cannot be accurately reproduced using other technologies, such as thermal transfer or weaving. With a full colour palette and tonal effect, sublimation labels are an excellent choice for colourful logos and complex designs requiring smooth colour transitions.

Sublimation printing on satin also allows you to create care and information labels for the inside of garments – they are aesthetic, durable and legible, which makes them ideal for sewing into the inside of garments. Longer sublimation labels are also used for larger products, such as mattresses or furniture accessories, where the labelling must be durable and clearly visible.

Advantages and disadvantages of sublimation labels compared to other technologies

Advantages of sublimation printed labels:

  • Compared to thermal transferSublimation enables permanent, full-colour printing with tonal transitions, and the print is deeply absorbed into the material, ensuring high resistance to washing and abrasion. Thermal transfer is limited to single-colour prints, which may fade and wear off after several washes.
  • Compared to jacquard labels: Woven labels are limited to a few colours and have limited capabilities for reproducing complex graphics. Sublimation allows for full-colour prints, easily reproducing intricate designs and details that are not possible with woven techniques.
  • Compared to flexographyFlexography works best for simple, single-colour graphics and large print runs, but does not allow for detailed patterns or a full range of colours. Sublimation, with its ability to print tonal transitions, offers full colour capabilities and better detail reproduction in small runs.

Disadvantages of sublimation labels:

  • Printing only on white tapes – sublimation printing requires a white background, therefore black or dark-coloured tapes cannot be used.
  • No colours outside CMYK – colours such as gold or silver cannot be obtained, which limits design options when special effects are required.
  • It is not possible to print small, light-coloured elements on a dark background label.

Prices of sublimation printed labels

The price of sublimation printed labels does not depend on the complexity of the design or the choice of material (e.g. satin, webbing, rep, grosgrain). The cost is determined based on the width of the tape used to print the labels and the quantity ordered – the greater the number of metres of labels with the same design ordered, the lower the unit price per running metre of labels. Naturally, the shorter the labels, the more will fit on one running metre of tape and the price of a single label will be lower. The price is given per 1 metre of labels. Additionally, the final price may be affected by the choice of double-sided printing, which allows for personalisation of the back of the label, and express order fulfilment, which is available for customers who need faster delivery.
